BRENTOR VILLAGE HALL – ITALIAN CHARITY SUPPER

On Friday 24th April the Brentor Village Hall committee hosted a bring and share Italian Supper raising money for West Devon Explorer Scouts.

40 people from the local community enjoyed a spectacular supper with dishes that included Lasagne, Pork Mince Ragu with Penne Pasta, Italian Potatoes with Tomatoes, Pancetta Risotto, Home made Pizza, Insalata di pollo e pesto, Melanzane al Forno, Garlic & Focaccia Olive breads and Roasted Italian vegetables.

Before the meal 3 Explorer Scouts, Brodie, Elizabeth and Alice gave an excellent talk on their forthcoming educational Nordic Adventure. The 15-day trip starts in July and consists of 9 days at the Danish Jamboree followed by 6 days in the Faroe Islands supporting scout groups out there with their centenary tour. These girls missed out on residential trips earlier in their lives due to covid so this trip will provide valuable life skills. The cost of this expedition must be raised by each person who attends by various forms of fund raising. These girls plus Katie, unable to attend on Friday due to exams, had already attended two of the Brentor Hall coffee mornings where they raised money by selling homemade cakes.  They made such an impression with the community at these coffee mornings that they were invited back to the Italian Supper to talk about their cause.

After the meal there was an Italian themed quiz accompanied by Cornetto ice creams, followed by a raffle for an Italian food hamper and an Italian Bingo session.

Everyone had a lovely evening and left well fed and happy.
